Privacy Policy for Registered Users
WowTown.com (the “Site”) is the video site just for kids. By providing a safe, moderated community we aim to encourage children to be creative by filming fun videos of them playing with the latest toys and games. These videos can be uploaded to the site and shared with other “Wowzers” throughout the world who can watch, comment and interact in a secure environment.
China Industries Limited (“we, “us” or “our”) take the privacy rights of users of the Site very seriously. We have created this privacy policy to explain to you what information we may collect about you and your child when your child registers to use the Site, how we will store and process this information and what we may do with it.
When we use the words “you” or “your” we mean the parent, guardian or other person who has received an “approval email” from us in respect of a person who has applied to activate an account with the Site and when we use the words "your child" we mean the person who has applied to activate an account with the Site.
This privacy policy together with our website terms of use and any other documents we refer to in it sets out the way any personal information or data we collect from you or your child or that you or your child provide to us will be processed by us.
Please read this privacy policy very carefully as by approving the activation of your child’s account you agree to our use of your and your child’s personal data in accordance with this policy.
1. INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT FROM YOU AND YOUR CHILD
If you are the parent or guardian of a child who would like to use and interact in the WowTown community and you have received an “approval email” from us then your child has already started the registration process for opening an account. This means that we have already collected the following information:
- Their name (first name only);
- Their date of birth;
- Your name and email address;
- Where they first heard about WowTown.com;
They may also have provided us with their email address and the country and area in which they live, which were optional.
If you choose not to approve the opening of your child’s account, we will delete your and your child’s personal information as soon as is reasonably possible. If you approve the creation of your child’s account, we retain the above information and continue to process it in accordance with the terms of this privacy policy.
When your child started the application to register to use the Site, we also asked your child to provide a password and username (or “Wowzer” name). Your child’s username and password must not be in any way similar to his or her actual name and they must keep their username and password confidential so that no one else can access the Site pretending to be them.
- We may also ask for the above details if your child enters a competition we have on the Site;
- If you or your child contact us for any reason we may keep a record of any email correspondence;
- We will collect and store the videos that your child submits to us for us to upload and any comments that your child may post;
- We may also collect details of your child’s visits to the Site, the resources that your child may access on the Site, whether to post or view comments or to upload or view videos;
- We may also collect information about your and your child’s computer including IP (Internet Protocol) address, operating system and browser type for administration purposes. This information will not identify who you or your child are though and will be used for our statistics only.
2. HOW WE COLLECT THE DATA AND WHEN
- We may collect your and your child’s data as part of the registration process to open an account with us, when your child logs in to use the account, when your child posts a comment on a video or uploads or views videos. The data that we collect is described in section 1 above.
- MONITORING TRAFFIC
We may monitor the traffic “data” on the website which lets us know which parts of the Site your child has looked at to help us improve the Site experience for your child. - COOKIES
For the same reason, we may use “cookies” which are small files of letters and numbers which can be downloaded onto your hard drive or other device when your child accesses the Site.
You or your child can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. Bear in mind however if you or your child do block all cookies, your child may not be able to access all or parts of the Site.
The only cookie that the Site currently uses is a session cookie which is essential to allow your child to stay logged into the site during his or her visit.
3. WHERE WE STORE THE DATA
- All personal information provided to us is stored on our secure servers which are hosted on our behalf by Gyron Internet Ltd in Gyron’s datacentre in Hemel Hempstead, password protected and hidden behind a firewall from the outside world. Although our servers are based in the United Kingdom, because the Internet is global it is not possible to predict the routes that information sent over the Internet will take sometimes. The information you or your child may provide may be transferred and stored outside of the European Economic Area. When you or your child provide data to us, you consent that this transfer may occur and is beyond our control.
- If your child uploads a video onto the Site, it will be uploaded to YouTube which is hosting the videos for us. YouTube is a video-sharing website on which users can upload, share, and view videos. We use the YouTube platform to host the videos submitted to the Site using our channel WowTownVideos. By approving your child’s account you permit us and you promise that your child permits us to upload any videos that your child uploads to us, to YouTube. We are bound by YouTube’s terms about using this facility, but the videos which we upload will not be accessible to people searching on YouTube or any other website directly. The videos can only be accessed by using a direct YouTube link or by clicking on the video within wowtown.com.
- We will not be making any videos available for download by third parties. However, the Internet is not fully secure and there are software programs that have been developed which enable information to be downloaded from websites, even where downloading is not offered. Because of this we cannot guarantee that any videos submitted by your child will not be downloaded by a third party using such software programs and we will not be responsible to you or your child if any videos are downloaded using such software programs.
4. HOW LONG WILL WE STORE THE DATA
- We will not store your or your child’s data including any videos your child uploads to the Site or any comments your child posts on the Site for any longer than we think is reasonably necessary to allow your child and other users of the Site to enjoy using the Site and its features.
- You can, at any time ask us to delete any of your data or your child’s data from the Site. See how to do this below under “ Your Rights” and we will do this as soon as possible.
5. HOW THE DATA WILL/MAY BE USED
We will use your and your child’s data to:
- process the registration of your child’s account with the Site and keep the account going;
- to upload to YouTube any videos which your child uploads to us in accordance with our terms of use;
- to handle any queries or complaints you or your child make about the Site;
- to allow your child to use the services of the Site when he or she wants to;
- to tell you and your child about any changes to the Site which you and he or she need to know about;
- to provide you and your child with any information about any other products or services where you have given us permission to contact you and your child for this purpose;
- to tell you and your child if your child has won a prize or to publish a list of prize winners on the Site for any competitions we run;
- to provide any other notices or information to you or your child.
6. WHEN WE MAY DISCLOSE INFORMATION TO OTHER PEOPLE
We may disclose your or your child’s personal information:
- to YouTube, in order to upload any videos your child uploads to us, to YouTube in accordance with our terms of use;
- to other people if we are under a legal duty to do so.
- to any other companies within our group or any company owned by the person or persons who own our company in order to run our business and the Site effectively;
- in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your or your child’s personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
7. YOUR RIGHTS AND YOUR CHILD'S RIGHTS
- The information or data you or your child provide to us or we collect from you or them belongs to you or them respectively. You or they are able to ask us to stop using your or their data: processing it, storing it or using it for any other purposes set out in this policy at any time. You or they can do this by contacting us at Support@WowTown.com.
- The Site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers, affiliates and suppliers (for example YouTube). If you or your child follows a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies and tell your child to check these policies before you or they submit any personal data on these websites.
- You or your child can each update your respective personal information at any time by contacting us at Support@WowTown.com and we will make the requested changes as soon as is reasonable possible. Your child can deactivate his or her account with the Site at any time by contacting us at Support@WowTown.com. If your child chooses to deactivate his or her account, it means that he or she will not be able to access and use the interactive features of the Site unless they choose to register with us again.
- You or your child can otherwise access any information we hold about you or they respectively at any time. Any request to us for your information may be subject to a nominal fee of £10 GBP to meet our administration costs in providing the details of the information we hold.
8. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY
If we make any changes to this privacy policy in the future we will tell you by email and you will need to tick a box to confirm that you accept the changes we make.
9. LAWS AND JURISDICTION
This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales and the jurisdiction of the English courts shall apply in the event of any dispute.

This privacy policy complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) 2000. This legislation applies to commercial websites in the United States of America. As a UK based website we are not bound by COPPA, however, as we hope to have website users from all around the globe, we have complied with COPPA’s requirements about use of personal data, obtaining parental consent and information to include in our privacy policy.
